Refining & Petrochemical
Refineries and petrochemical plants operate complex gas, steam, and vapor systems where liquid carryover can affect process stability, equipment life, and site conditions.
Anderson separators remove bulk liquid and mist from pressurized process streams and capture entrainment before atmospheric discharge.
Process-Gas Knockout and Equipment Protection
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Centrifugal Receiver Separator
WHY IT IS USED
Process-gas streams can carry condensate, hydrocarbon liquid, and solids into compressors, dryers, filters, valves, regulators, and controls. The receiver separator provides a velocity-reduction zone for bulk disengagement, impingement surfaces for coalescence, and centrifugal action for final removal. Its sump stores separated material for controlled drainage and helps accommodate upset or surge conditions.
Steam, Air, Gas, and Vapor Distribution
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Centrifugal Receiver Separator
WHY IT IS USED
Removing entrained liquid before a utility or process stream reaches downstream users helps reduce corrosion, fouling, slugging, and performance loss. Low pressure drop and no moving parts make the separator well suited to continuous plant service and engineered process packages.
Relief, Flash-Tank, Process-Vessel, and Storage-Tank Vents
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Exhaust Head
WHY IT IS USED
Atmospheric vents may discharge water, oil, or process liquid with the vapor stream. Exhaust heads use centrifugal force to drive droplets and solids outward for collection and drainage while cleaned vapor exits vertically. This reduces visible fallout, staining, corrosion, cleanup, and wet areas around the vent location.
Evaporator, Digester, and Process-Vapor Exhausts
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Fabricated Exhaust Head
WHY IT IS USED
Larger stacks and vapor streams carrying troublesome liquid benefit from the EH's fabricated construction and stainless-steel centrifugal element. The unit provides high-efficiency mechanical separation without routine filter replacement and can be custom engineered for larger line sizes.
Fine Droplet Removal in Process Gas and Vapor
PRODUCTS USED
Anderson Inline Vane Separator or Vertical Vane Separator
WHY THEY ARE USED
Where fine liquid carryover threatens compressors, turbines, contactors, pipelines, or process equipment, Anderson Pocket-Type vane technology provides 99% removal of droplets 8 microns and larger. An optional inlet coalescer extends performance to droplets 3 microns and larger.
Process Lines, Knockout Duty, and First-Stage Separation
PRODUCTS USED
Anderson Centrifugal Line Separators or Centrifugal Separator
WHY THEY ARE USED
These separators mechanically remove condensate, mist, line scale, and particulate before compressors, dryers, analyzers, filters, coalescers, heat exchangers, and metering equipment. The centrifugal line family spans small threaded connections through larger ASME vessels. The Type TL is a heavy-duty choice for larger pipe sizes and higher flows; the standard TL uses continuous drainage, while the TLSX provides added liquid hold-up capacity for fluctuating or heavier loads.
Fine-Aerosol Control, Vapor Recovery, and Reactor Protection
PRODUCTS USED
Anderson Centrifugal Separator with Coalescing Mesh or Anderson Coalescing Filter
WHY THEY ARE USED
Process-gas cleanup, vapor recovery, reactor protection, hydrocarbon processing, and burner-fuel service may require finer contaminant removal than a conventional vane or centrifugal separator provides. The CL Series coalesces fine mist before centrifugal removal, delivering 99% removal at 4 microns and larger without disposable cartridges. The ACF combines a knockout plate, vane, centrifugal element, or multi-cyclone first stage with coalescing filter elements for 99.98% removal at 0.3 microns and larger, protecting catalyst, burners, analyzers, and other high-value equipment.
High-Capacity Process-Gas Filtration
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Filter Separator
WHY IT IS USED
Refinery and petrochemical gas streams can contain bulk hydrocarbon liquid, fine aerosols, lube oil, and solid particulate that exceed the capability of a simple mechanical separator. The AFS Series integrates bulk removal, particulate filtration and mist coalescence, and final liquid separation to protect compressors, turbines, process equipment, and catalyst beds.
Online Maintenance of Duplex Filters and Coolers
PRODUCT USED
HYCOA 6-Way or Linked 3-Way Transfer Valve
WHY IT IS USED
Critical lube-oil, hydraulic-oil, process-oil, fuel-oil, cooler, and heat-exchanger systems often require uninterrupted flow while one duplex component is isolated for service. HYCOA's synchronized switching, retractable Shoe Seals, and mechanical lockdown provide low-torque changeover and positive isolation while reducing skid footprint and piping complexity.
Internal Separation in Towers, Receivers, and Knockout Drums
PRODUCTS USED
Anderson Internal Centrifugal Separator
WHY THEY ARE USED
Distillation columns, vacuum towers, receivers, process vessels, and knockout drums benefit from removing entrained liquid inside the vessel before vapor enters downstream piping. Anderson internal separators use engineered vanes to create centrifugal action, coalesce droplets, and return separated liquid to the vessel. This helps control carryover between process stages, maintain product purity and stable tower operation, and protect compressors and recovery equipment. Manway-installable DIM and DID designs support upgrades to large or existing vessels.
High-Throughput Gas and Dry-Solids Separation
PRODUCT USED
Anderson Multi-Cyclone Separator
WHY IT IS USED
Refinery and petrochemical gas systems with high flow, heavy entrainment, solids loading, or intermittent slugs need rugged first-stage separation ahead of compressors, meters, valves, and gas-conditioning assets. The AMCS uses multiple cyclone tubes to remove liquid and solid contaminants mechanically and can also serve dry-dust scrubbing duties where oil or liquid scrubbers are not practical or economical.
